Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 675 SoC For Mid-Range Smartphones

Qualcomm has announced a new Snapdragon 675 chipset to bring an enhanced camera, gaming and AI capabilities for mid-range smartphones.

This processor is also the first one to be manufactured by using the 11nm process. Snapdragon 675 is the successor to the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 670 processor that was launched in August this year.

The new process comes with eight Kyro 460 CPUs (up to 2GHz), out of which, two ARM A76 cores are high-performance ones whereas the rest six are ARM A55 efficiency cores.

The chipset has Adreno 612 GPU which is actually lower in comparison to Snapdragon 670’s Adreno 615 GPU. But it includes the Snapdragon X12 modem that allows up to 600mbps peak download speed and native support for FHD+ display.

It supports up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and also has a Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ tech onboard. Smartphones sporting the Snapdragon 675 will be available from Q1 2019.

Qualcomm claims that with the new SoC, smartphones will experience less stuttering while playing graphic-intensive games such as PUBG, Honor of Kings, etc.

This time it has Aqstic Audio to deliver a better get surround sound audio to users while gaming. The company also says that the new chip will help in launching games 30% faster whereas web browsing will experience a 35% boost.

On the camera front, the Snapdragon 675 will support triple cameras with 5x optical zoom. It also brings improved Portrait and Bokeh shots, along with support for 480fps slow motion videos at HD resolution.

As far as AI is concerned, the Adreno GPU, Kyro CPU, and Hexagon 685 DSP together will deliver face unlock security with three times faster face recognition and unlock.
